Teaching Plan
Curriculum
The current curriculum used by the Philippines is K to 12 Curriculum, it is implemented from Grade 7 - 9. For the Grade 10, they are still using the previous curriculum that is Science Curriculum
Teaching Plan
Before demo teaching, we are the students teacher were asked to make lesson plan. My resource teacher ask me to make The 7 E's Lesson Plan. The 7 E's stand for the following: Elicit, Engage, Explore, Explain, Elaborate, Extend and Evaluate. He gave me a topic about photosynthesis in general and chose 2 class, Grade 9 Scorpio and Grade 9 Aries, as my demo teaching class. My resource teacher lent me a text book as a reference source, but he also suggested adding references other than the book, such as the internet.

I used powerpoint (PPT) as learning media and also added a learning video about photosynthesis in the power point (PPT)

Teaching Practice

Procedure of Teaching
Before teaching in front of the class, a teacher should be prepared-well about what gonna teach to the students. Here in the MMSU-Laboratory High School, we the students were asked to make a lesson plan before teaching. As stated in my lesson plan, there were seven procedures (7 E's) in teaching. There are:
-
Elicit. Here, we can find out what the students know (prior knowledge). We can ask to them some essential question about the topic that we will explain later.
-
Engage. In this stage we want to engage interest and curiosity, raise “The BIG questions” and introduce new learning through teacher explanation modelling.
-
Explore. In this stage teacher ask students to explore and learn new things.
-
Explain. During this stage we would use what students had discovered to help them build the concept/knowledge further. This would involved checking and asking questions. Using their knowledge gained from experience to develop the concepts further.
-
Elaborate. In this stage, teacher give some example and students finding practical applications of concepts & skills in daily living
-
Evaluate. In this stage, students fill the worksheet so teacher can know how far their knowledge, also teacher can find out the extent of student's understanding of the topic that has been taught
-
Extend. It's additional activities for application or remediation.
Time Management and Organizing Activities
The time allocation for teaching one subject every meeting is 1 hour. For 1 hour teaching you have to finish all the activities you have planned in the detailed lesson plan
Problem Solving
If there is over time to finish all the activities, usually the teacher tries to finish the explanation and the lesson proper first then the evaluation part become a homework for the students. But its better if teacher can manage time so students can collect the worksheet on that day and teacher can check their answer faster.
Classroom Management
As I experienced being the teacher in classroom, there are some problem I faced. First poblem is the speaker were not working properly so the students could not hear the video clearly. Second, the class is noisy so its really challenging to control them. The first problem could be solved by MMSU FS students help me to make speaker sound more clear. The second problem could be solved by make my voice louder when explain so they will listening to me. I really appreciate Grade 9 Aries and Grade 9 Scorpio because they are very cooperative. They are really smart students, it shows when I'm asking question, so many students raised their hands to answer my questions.
